The Liberation Sangha is the community that has formed around the yoga, meditation, and kirtan (chanting) groups at our Urbran Retreat Center.
The word Sangha, from the Buddhist tradition, refers to a collective of dedicated practitioners that mutually support each other’s journeys with acceptance and compassion.
Our Sangha consists of yoga teachers, meditation teachers, kirtan leaders, therapists, artists, musicians, healers, students, and everyone who participates in their offerings. All are welcome.
To some, these practices may seem esoteric and outside the scope of a community mental health organization. But a multitude of studies have shown that yoga, meditation, chanting, and similar mindful practices can have a profound and lasting effect on our mental health and well-being. Reminding us that the body, mind, and spirit are all connected, these ancient techniques from the East are now on the cutting edge of treatment in the West!
For many in our Sangha these practices have been doorways to transformative experiences – sacred tools for Healing Growth and Freedom.
Our core offerings are Tuesday Liberation Yoga, Wednesday Community Kirtan and Thursday Meditation Class (“Heart Camp”), all at the Urban Retreat Center. In addition we offer a variety of other classes, workshops, events and outings.
All Liberation Sangha groups and gatherings are offered on a donation basis. No one is ever turned away for lack of funds. All are welcome.
You can find the classes and groups on our Upcoming Events calendar.
